From a failed take-off to a movement-analysis platform
BiokinetIQ · multi-sport platform · 5 patent applications (INPI)
The problem
The eye could see the movement was wrong. It couldn't measure it.
A child was struggling to land his surf take-off correctly. The eye could tell the movement was off — but not measure precisely where, when and how it departed from the intended one.
The governing constraint
A movement isn't a posture. It's a spatio-temporal phenomenon.
It wasn't about recognising a correct or incorrect posture in an image. You have to understand the body's evolution over time, but also the trajectory through space — then turn that measurement into an actionable correction.
The approach
Break the concrete case down to the general problem.
Start from the take-off and work up to the real question: how do you objectively measure a human movement and its deviation from a reference? The research gradually went beyond surf to yield a biomechanical analysis architecture — movement over time, its trajectory, and the associated corrections.
The result
Out of one individual take-off problem came BiokinetIQ, a sports movement analysis and correction platform — an asset developed by Y.
